Beauty Heists of $8 Million in California Finds Relief

The ringleader responsible for organized theft affecting Ulta Beauty and Sephora is arrested in California.

Theft is a major issue for retailers in the beauty industry, along with counterfeit products. Beauty crimes centralized in San Diego County, California have been on the rise beyond that of petty theft.

Law enforcement agencies in California have finally found and arrested the woman responsible for the orchestrated theft of beauty products across the state. Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the arrest last Friday.

According to CBS, an estimated $400,000 in beauty products have been stolen from retailers such as Ulta Beauty and Sephora and extended across 21 California counties.

The women in question paid seven people to targeted and looted local beauty stores. Stolen products were then sold through Amazon Marketplace under the suspect’s storefront.

This arrest can help shape discussions for strategies in combating future retail theft.
